Hi,

I replaced my old 2 unit factory installed marine air units with 2 new units in 2002 (I/O Passports); 16000 BTU forward, 6000 BTU Aft. (hardly ever use the aft unit).

Just cleaned the starainer and blew out all hoses from the pump and outward; all clear. Cleaned air filter as well.

Problem: I turn on the 16000 BTU unit and the unit comes on and the fan is operational, the digital display indicates current indoor temp., (77).

For testing I have the program (P1) set at 0. I set the temp at 82. pump and fan run, heat indicator light is on but compressor kicks in for about 4 or 5 seconds and then shuts down for about 15 to 20 seconds and then kicks on for another 4 or 5 seconds and continually repeats the process. Water is being pumped through and appears to be flowing  and discharging normally. Thermostat read out displays the cabin temp (which fluxuates by a degree now and then) but the unit does not cool or heat no matter what I set the desired temp. at.

When I called Dometic, it was suggested that I need a recharge of freon. I'm not so sure.

One final peice of info that I culled from a forum entry on this site. Each time the compressor kicks on, the lights dim for a second.

Thanks for any help

Scott
