Steve,
I have the same problem as the previous posters. I have 2 Marine Systems 16K Self Contained A/Cs with a shared pump. The water is running and the aft unit operates properly for about 2 minutes, cooling ok. But then the breaker pops. We have shop vacuumed the condenser coil and it still pops. Our next step to blow it clean with an air compress nozzle and be sure all tubes are completely clear. Any suggestions?...
There are several pinned topics related to this with my thoughts in the Maintenance section of the forum... Basically the system needs an acid flush to restore heat transfer to the water...No amount of sucking or blowing will remove hard water scale...
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Rick~
Would have been better to post your own thread, and your issue is not really similar since you are pumping water....
Anyway...You say "5-6 seconds after the compressor kicks on"...Does the compressor actually run, and then trip the breaker ?
Or do lights dim & amp meter peg when it tries to start...???
Webasto....First I would not count on a Webasto unit matching up to your Marine Air air handler...Different engineers with differing ideas...Webasto would also not likely warranty their unit if connected to differing brand equipment....
I replaced one (compressor was locked) that was connected to a Cruisair air handler...Put Cruisair back & it's still running.
I have also not heard good things about Webasto from other techs at the service schools...

I have a similar problem but I have a split system with 1 pump. My cst 16k-h just quit working one day. My main cabin is working just fine. Pump is pumping but the 16k pops the breaker about 5-6 seconds after the compressor kicks on. I had a marine air mechanic come and he said that my compressor froze up and I needed a new unit. Of course I have the ECU-Maxx control boards so he says I need a new board. If I have to replace the entire unit, is Marine Air the only one I can use? I looked at a Webasto and heard good things about it but don't know. Do I really need a new unit or am I getting taken because of being unfamiliar about air conditioning?
Thanks,
Rick
First question always is...Do you see water pumping over the side ?...Without Water No A/C...and it will shut off & trip the breaker as you mention...
There should be a thru hull (that needs to be open) a sea strainer (that is not clogged with grass or the like) and a pump connected to the A/C that needs to be running to pump water...Some will run in the fan mode, and later they changed to only run with the compressor...
When stored out of water these pumps can get air bound (not self priming)...Easiest way to prime is to remove the discharge hose (while in water & thru hull is open) then let the air escape until it's solid water running into the bilge...Reconnect the hose & start her up...
That should give you a starting point

Hello all what a amazing site. Just picked up a 1987 formula 28 pc here in Iowa Old man that it came from said air used to work then started popping main breaker. Air has three nob control when switched to start fan blows, when switched to run sounds like compressor turns on runs for three min then main. Breaker pops. Never seen marine ac before but pretty mechanically inclined just no idea where to start. Any help would be great or what info I can provide to get a better answer thanks.
