Passport I/O controls

Hello all….Great site and valuable forum….

I have a Marine Air Vector VCD7 air/heat system with the digital
passport I/O control….Unit was working fine then the dreaded "HPF"
I checked my strainer..clean…could not get any water flow..changed the
water pump and back in business….The problem that I have now is when the unit cools the digital display is incorrect…example////I set it to cool today. The
temp. inside of the cabin was approx. 77 deg. F. I set the unit to 70 deg F. Cool air was blowing out the vent but the room temp display was rising to over 87 Deg F..The cabin
was cool. I tried going into the program mode and resetting the ambient temp. This still
showed the temp climbing when it was in fact cooling.
I don't see any optional sensors attached, So I presume that the display is where
the room temp. is being read…..

Any ideas???
Thanks

Hi Rob~

At the bottom edge/ledge of the Passport keypad…Run your finger along the bottom…Feel the little bump ?…That's the sensor…unless an optional sensor has been installed and plugged into the circuit board.

Hold your finger on it (with the control lit up) to see if it responds…If it does not…Then I would look a bit harder for that optional sensor wire…

If there…you will find it plugged into the main circuit board on the a/c unit…open that box and you will see a plug socket on the board labeled "Alt Air" (there will be others too)…If nothing is plugged into that telephone type jack…Then you don't have one….If there is a plug & wire…Follow it to where it goes…It should be in the return air path, and not somewhere it will pick up heat other than what is passing across the a/c unit's air coil…

You can also unplug the alternate sensor, and now the Passport keypad sensor is active…see how that works…

Let me know what you come up with and we can take it from there…

Hi Steve,

I checked out the air today.
The little bump on the control panel didn't do anything so I
got into the return air path so I could see the unit.
There I located a grey wire, like a telephone jack. The wire was all tied up and
at the end of it was a silver cylinder. I figured this was a sensor.
It was sittin on top of the a/c unit.
I turned on the a/c and put this in front of the return air and
the air temp on the display started to drop….Now all I have to do
is figure on how to mount it and get a real thermometer to set the display unit's temperature.

Thanks Steve for your time.

Rob~

That's good news…Just thought I would tell you that your Alt Air sensor will be much more accurate if you do not clamp on it itself…It should not touch anything but open air as it will pick up heat from any source it touches…

If you want to fasten it somewhere in the air path…Just use a wire tie (around the wire & not the sensor) with a hole and screw it into something.

You can also look in your manual for the procedure to return to factory presets…This should return you temp setting to original.

Steve~
