Marine AiRRR Passport II Touchpad not working

Hello, I have a 1991 Regal Commodore with a Marine AiRRR AC in Iuka, MS on Tenn. River.  I had AC working, and

a friend of mine turned it on about 3 weekends ago and it stayed on for 30 mins running fine and then cut off.

Now I can't get a display on the Digital Passport II Touchpad.  I have replaced the touchpad-circuit board cable with no luck, so now I am wondering if it is the touchpad, or the Circuit Board that may be bad..  The circuit board is for a Passport original with the spade connectors for some reason, and it is contained in a VRE Marine Air control Box, so someone has pieced this together over the years before me.  I do know the AC has worked before, but when when my friend had AC on this time, he did not open the SeaCock, so I hope that didn't cause any major damage…Is there any way to test my Passport II controller, so I can mark that off the troubleshooting list? Thanks for any advice!

Hi Greg…Guess you were able to make up a new cable after our phone conversation ?

I''m afraid the only way to test your control system is to plug in another known working display…That's what they tell us at Marine Air schools…Thing is, where do you get a known working Passport II ???…They are no longer available except on the used market.

Your best bet is the retrofit kit as I believe we discussed…

Thanks Steve, I had a computer shop make a reversed control/display -circuit board cable, and also repair the old cable.  Neither worked.. I am just trying to go thru troubleshooting process out of curiousity as a trade aircraft mech., as to why the AC worked for thirty minutes, then cut-out… The Passport should have cut the system off if it detected no water flow from SeaCock I would imagine, but I can't figure out now why I'm not getting any faults, or display whatsoever now.. Thanks for the advice

Truth is…Some models have the microprocessor in the keypad/display…Some it's on the board…Which your's is I can't say…

Also…Most Marine Air controls do not connect to pressure switches unless you connect them….They look for compressor load faults….

They do have the capability to connect to pressure switches but most don't in my experience…

Cruisair controls looked at pressure switches but did not have the capability to look for load faults….Two ideas with differing ends…
