Steve,

First of all, I must give you high praise.

Your website topics that are posted are excellent…thank you for your service!

I have a Marine Air VHT12k-H with a ECU MAXX display.

The unit has been good until last fall. (both heat and cooling-minor issues with CLF error when heating).

After one over night fishing trip my until is completely dead.

No lights on display/no action with fan/no compressor sounds/no water pump.

I have checked power to the unit which is fine.  (turned off breaker given current nogo).

I opened the control unit and inspected to an extreme rookie level.

Appears some components on the circuit board are slightly discolored.

I could pull the circuit board and try to replace some components but I am no pro.

Sounds like a retrofit is a possibility on the controller and display.

Sounds like a new 16k BTU unit is an option (could maybe put one vent to helm-other two in cabin).

Bottomline-get this working if possible with low cost…upgrade the right way when I need to.

Your input would be very much appreciated.

Hi Ben…Thanks for joining & the compliment…We try~

The info I have says the "VHT" units were produced between 1993-1995…So your's could be 20 years old…

What kind of shape is it in overall ??

The ECU MAXX was a nice control but expensive…They still offer replacement boards for it at over $1000.00, but there are no replacement keypad/displays available…So if your display fails you are out of luck, unless you can find a good one on E-Bay etc…Not such a good option IMHO…

Better option: I do show on top of pg 9 of the Marine Air parts price book (Top of this, or any page, click Marine Airrr prices) a retrofit kit to the current Passport I/O compact for $565.00 or for the Elite $590.00…Each kit includes everything needed for the upgrade…

But back to the age & condition of that unit…Is it worth it ???…I can't see it, or put gauges on it…20 years is bonus time for a marine unit in seawater, and with dock power as it can be…Yes many last that long or longer…

But as I tell many…It owes no one a thing as it's done it's time  Wink

Steve~
