Marine Air not heating or cooling; compressor indicator not on

Unfortunately, I was lax in keeping a good filter on the air intake for my self-contained Marine Air Systems VR12K-H on my 1990 Sea Ray Sundancer 350. The cabinet got a lot of lint in, which covered the grille and caused the unit to burn out. Now, it won't heat or cool, and the light on the MCP that indicates the compressor is running does not come on. According to the manual, this should mean that the high pressure switch kicked off. I have cleared out all of the lint and eliminated all of the obstruction to good airflow (and put in a good new filter, of course). But, still nothing.

Is there something else I need to do? Is there some way besides clearing the obstucted airflow to make the high pressure switch kick back on?

Thanks for any advice!

The High pressure switch should auto reset, but yes it could have stuck in the open position…

The best thing I can tell you to test it, is to bypass it to see if the compressor will run, but as I remember that control that came with the VR12K-H (produced 1988-1989) The control is not connected to the High pressure switch…Meaning the light should light even if the Hi Ps switch is open…

I could go on further, but the problem here is that no parts are available for that control…At the very least you are looking at a control retrofit to the new Passport I/O…And that brings up the question of if the unit is worth it…What kind of condition is the unit in ?

The new Turbo units are much more efficent, much quieter, move more air, are lighter, smaller, and weigh less…Not to mention the rust proof composite drain pan that has better water channels that also reduce standing water by better drainage…And they also have the new "Green Gas" refrigerant…

I got your e-mail so I think you are already thinking this way…I'll respond there for pricing…

Remember…The old unit being at least 20 years old dosen't owe anyone a thing…
