Sorry i don't have model of a/c . (forgot to look before I left). But the forward a/c will blow on fan but as soon as you try to spin switch to cool the light comes on for a couple seconds but i never hear the unit try to kick on then it pops the unit breaker in the main fuse panel. The rear a/c will freeze you out. Coils are clean. Small water supply coming out of 1 of 2 lines. The other line flows strong. I was told this is pretty normal? It has the 3 manual knobs which I pulled out to look for shorted wire but nothing. Was working fine until Friday. I take that back, during the winter I don't think the heater was working but it never popped a breaker in heat mode. But I don't think I remember it cycling either back then. Maybe this is related?

Thank you for any advice. I've heard raves about this site.

Water flow is a major issue…You can read about it all over this site but…

I'm not clear on this statement…"Small water supply coming out of 1 of 2 lines. The other line flows strong. I was told this is pretty normal?"

You should have Full  flow out of each overboard…If not…That was the root of the problem all along…Now by continuing to run it you may have created more problems…

What should have been happening in the cool mode is…The unit with low flow will build High pressure due to that low flow & trip the "auto reset" high pressure switch (cuts off at 425 psi)…The compressor then shuts off & the pressures start to equalize…The switch will then close at 325 psi sending power back to the compressor again…It can't start against that 325 psi, and draws enough amperage trying to do so it trips the breaker…

It's possible that it is still your only problem…But with all that cycling it's also possible you have burnt a wire connection, or worse yet…Burnt up the compressor itself….

I'd solve the flow issue first…Then get back to me if it still trips the breaker…As a test you could supply dock water to that unit to see if more flow solves the breaker tripping…Then you know and can address the plumbing restriction or problem from the pump…

BTW…Without full flow, you wouldn't pick up Heat from the water in the heat mode…No Water…No Heat…Thus no breaker tripping…

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I honestly read on a sea ray forum that 1 of the 2 overboard flows was never the same. I always questioned that. Could you please tell me how to clear the low flow line? Maybe I'll get lucky
Thanks

That may be true of that model of Sea Ray, but that doesn't make it right…  Wink

Sea Ray did a lot of not so good things when it came to installing A/C….

As far as clearing a blockage…That's hard to say, and again this site is full of info on it…Every boat & installation differs…

Replacing hose is one way…Running a barnacle buster type product thru the lines is another option….

But if your boat's installation is inherently low flow to one system (as other owners quote) It's best to get to the reason for that, and correct it, because it adds to growth problems & also shortens the life of the unit that is starving for water…Could be as simple as the way they split the flow from the pump…I just can't say without seeing how it was done, and with what pump….
