Steve
I have a cruisair fn16-p (actually 2) that a customer stated he thought he needed a "shot of freon"…They all think it's just a "freon" issue, lol.I put my gauges on the low side just to see my suction pressure was.I had 92 psi.I also only had 70* coming out of the registers.I couldn't find anywhere where the discharge water was coming out and the marine mechanic thought the water was probably "t" into the exhaust which was half way submerged, however,i didn't see any flow from that.I've seen where you've said where the water side might need to be flushed out.( I don't know if you remember me but I was the guy asking for trade schools.I had only residential experience and wanted to cross over to marine a/c). I would assume that I should see similiar pressures w/R22 reguardless of res./marine.With that being said my suction pressure is a little high.Reguarding "flushing" the water side…any reccommendations would be appreciated.

Hi Tim~

I agree…They all do think it just needs freon  Laugh

First…If you are going to make the change over to marine…Better get used to connecting the high side gauges, and doing a lot of feeling with your hands…

Compressor temp & condenser temp are big factors in marine troubleshooting…You will get used to how they should feel, but until you get some relation of pressures to temp feel…It's best to hook up both sides….Always (except with rotary's) feel the compressor top, suction line to compressor, and condenser coil on every unit you come close to, also comparing it to others near…Just get used to doing that and it becomes habit…We have that advantage here of being able to over residential air cooled units that you normally can't get past the fan when running to get a feel  Wink

For your question at hand…I really need Cabin temp, Seawater temp, Low side & High side pressure at those temps…

TD across the coil will help too…Don't dump any charge at this point…

Steve

I'll get those numbers for you.I know the cabin temp was 86* and water temp was 74*.I have to get hi side pressure for you so I'll do all numbers again.

Tim
