1989 hatt MY with 2 cruisar units, two digital factory controls, one (I think) handler on the bridge.  Location Savannah, Ga.  Good water flow, other compressor OK with good airflow.  Problem unit compressor comes on with no air movement.

Hi Bill…Thanks for asking over here~

It's still important to know what brand of equipment & what controls you have…Hatteras during that time frame used Cruisair & Luneair (Luneair on boats smaller than 50 ft) and the controls were different too (Luneair is now out of business)

Anyway…A Few questions to help us narrow it down…

  • Will the salon fan run when you press the fan button ?…
  • You cannot get the fan to run at all ?
  • The salon compressor runs even with the control off ? (with breaker on)

Steve, the compressor runs with breaker in, and I cannot turn off at the control.  No air from any of the ducts.  Turns off at master circuit breaker

BTW, the fan indicator does reflect up and down actuated speeds, just no air.

Bill~

It sounds like there may be more than one problem at this point…

If the compressor will only shut off from the breaker…That's a bad compressor triac in the control module…Which could be replaced ($40 part) if it is Cruisair equip & Control…Luneair parts are no longer available…

If the fan won't run yet the indicators say it should be…It's possible the fan motor is bad, or that the fan triac in the control module is bad….You would need to test for voltage at the fan motor to determine which it is…

Either case, it sounds like you need a control module/board (Cruisair board is $355)…But possibly a fan motor/blower too…

This is where it becomes important to know exactly what you have…If it's Luneair then you would need to retrofit controls because no parts are available…
