Steve,

Since replacing the Triac's my 2-AC units are working great, cycling at the set temp. I started to think about flushing the sea water side on the units since I don't know when they were cleaned. I agree with you on the use of muratic acid for the DIY guys. I have read about the Klean Strip product (Phosporic acid) being used. It is a low cost product compared to the barnacle buster when used with a bilge pump and 5 gal bucket. 

What's your take on using the Klean Strip product for cleaning the condenser coils?

Don't really have a take on that Joe…I've never used that product…

My question would be…Will it eat barnacles & mussel shells…If so…How long does it take to do so ?

I'm sure it would be fine if all you are dealing with is hard water scale…But a bunch of marine growth is another story…

I wouldn't be concerned about it hurting the A/C water coils if that's what you are asking…Just will it do a complete job and how long will it take is the question ?

If you do try it…Please report back on your experience…I'm sure inquiring minds would like to know  Wink

One other thing…I'm sure it wouldn't be EPA approved for pumping overboard when done…

Thanks for the comments, I might give it a try after rigging up my 5 gal bucket and bilge pump.
