Have two Marine Air VCP16K in my Silverton. In the forward unit, when turn on, fan starts normally, then get a loud buzzing/vibrating sound from compressor area. I have a sound recording of it if I need to email it somewhere, don't think I can post the file here. It happens about every 30 sec, and lasts about 3 seconds. This happens when using cold or heat serttings.

Assume this is happening when the compressor is trying to cycle on. It's hard to get to, but best I can tell, it's coming from compressor, and it did feel warm if remember right, while I was reaching down to it…thoughts?

My first suggestion would be to disconnect one of the reversing valve wires at the Passport II circuit board….

The terminals will be labeled on the board itself…"Rev" is what you are looking for…

If the noise goes away, I would say there is a problem with the Passport II board causing the valve to chatter…

If the noise does not go away then you must have a compressor problem…

Re-addressing-

Passport controller is in the wall. Pain to remove panels to get to back.. Do I have to get behind it to access wires, or does the controller come out forward? Anything else I can check on the unit itself? Thanks-
