Steve,Great forum that helped me pinpoint my problem.I have a cabin mate 16k with 3 control knobs and my unit heats only.I disconnected coil on reverse valve which produces cold air and you said in a prior post that thermostat was at fault, but can it also be out of calibration and if so how would I adjust it?Thanks. Mike

Hi Mike~

There is a small hole on the back of the T-stat that you can put a small flat blade screwdriver into…But it's actually easier to see the screw if you pop the cover off of the back of the T-Stat…Turn that screw till you hear a click…there are actually 2 clicks…one for heat & one for cool…Do this with the knob pointer aiming vertical & make sure the unit is not running so that you don't short cycle the compressor by accident…

You can play with this…Ideally when done, the cabin should be around 72-74 degrees with the arrow vertical…This will give the proper range of cooling & heating…

Once you have it close…Turn the knob to cycle off the compressor…Then wrap your hand around the sensing bulb…The compressor should come back on in cooling mode…If not…The thermostat has likely lost it's charge in that tube and will need to be replaced…

Steve,Thanks for the great directions.I did adjust thermostat like you stated and it worked fine. The compressor also came back on when I held sensing bulb. The only thing off is the thermostat knob, turning way past warm and only about 3/4 to full cool.thanks. Mike

Mike~

If you look on the sides of the knob there should be 2 screw holes…Small flat blade screwdriver again, but this time remove the knob…The round shaft will have a flat spot cut into it & the wrong set screw must have been on that flat spot…Rotate knob so that the other set screw tightens down on it….That should give you the correct span around the dial…
