Good morning Steve,

sorry for the confusion. The VCM 12K unit has a passport add on box, however I am now talking about the 16000 btu unit. Not sure of the model, I will get that later today, but it looks like this one came from the factory with the passport controls as this one does not have the extra box.

The plug I am talking about is on the circuit board that is in the box on the unit itself. I will try get you the other info as I will go to the boat today.

Cor

Try to get a picture of the board…Or at least see if it looks like one in the PDF…I don't remember any with a telephone plug for the pressure switch…I'm wondering what it is you are unplugging…And I need to know the other answers too about heat or cool & pressures when it shuts off…Are they always the same ?

Hi Steve,

was not able to get the pressures for you as I spend most the time I had fixing other problems, aren't boats fun!

I did get the right model #

it is a VCP16K = passport II controls

Diagram M1010082

product # 205-210700

The rest of the info will have to wait a couple of days till I can get back down there.

Still…What does the display show when it shuts down…???

Passport II units did not have the pressure switch wired to the board from the factory…It was wired in-line to the compressor & was High amperage.

The Passport II board did however have pressure switch connections…Just not as you describe as telephone plugs.

The pressure switch connection would be White and just to the left of the Display connector (which is a tele jack type)

There are two other Telephone jacks…One for a Alternate inside air temp sensor, and the other for Outside air temp, or a chilled water system loop sensor (Dual Purpose)

All this is what makes me wonder what you are jumping or unplugging…The system will run with the 2 temp sensors unplugged…There is a temp sensor in the Passport II that takes over if you unplug the Alternate…The Alternate was an option that was typically installed when the sensor in the Passport II (due to location) did not sense properly.

The Outside Temp was optional as well…

Important to know what the fault code was…You may be barking up the wrong tree  Wink

Hi Steve,

well I got to get a much better look at it yesterday and I was also able to get my hands on the diagram.

The plug I am talking about is actually not the phone style but a flat plug with 3 prongs. It has a black and a orange wire to it and according to the diagram it is the high pressure switch, if it also had the 3th wire than that would have been to the low pressure.

With the plug plugged in again the unit would run for a couple of minutes and than stop, displaying "HHH" reset itself after a while and do the same thing over and over again. All this time the high pressure never went over 200 psi, guess it is also in need of some more freon.

As the unit in such a thight spot it would be easiest to go with the service port setup, do you have them? Is it best I give you a call on this?

There is still something that does not feel right here, and I'm happy to send you the parts you request, but I'm not sure it's your issue, Or you might need the heavy duty switch…So could you please answer my questions as I ask them ?…Earlier you told me it was a phone plug….but thanks for confirming the HHH fault.

Is this in the Heat or Cool mode, or both ???…

Passport II should ignore the Hi PS switch in heat….But there is more to it than that.

Where do the Black & Orange wires terminate ??…Where do they go after leaving the plug ???

Do you have this manual for the Passport II ?….http://www.dometic.com/FileOrg…..sport2.pdf

Only trying to help here Cor  Wink  But I need all the info I ask to be as accurate as possible…Each question can point a differing way and save us both some effort (and Yes I'm here to help) A couple answers one way or the other can confirm what I need to know to get you the right answer…

Hate to say it, but if I could be on the boat…You would have had your answer in less than 30 mins…But since I can't be…Please don't add freon yet…200 psi is not uncommon this time of year…But then again I would need to know if running in heat or cool & air & water temps at that time too… Cool
