Yesterday, I got back to the dock after an hour run on th eboat, and the SMXII display for my salon's F24C was reading "0", and the only way I could get it to respond to anything was to shut off the breaker.  Once I restarted it, everything seemed to be working properly.  Is this an indicator of a problem in the making?

Hi Jason~

Was the display in the temp mode, or the set mode ?

If it was supposed to be displaying the actual temp…You may have a bad temp sensor, or a connection going bad…

The sensor should have a telephone type plug & jack on the F24C electrical box (actually 2) one is for the temp sensor & the other is for the display…Unplug both & check the pins for corrosion…Then spray with CorrosionX or the like & try it again…

Hopefully that's your only issue…  Cool

The unit was in temp mode.  It had been operating flawlessly for approx 2 hours.  I went down, checked the salon, engine room, etc during my run, everything was great.  Approx an hour later, it gave the "0" reading and nothing would work on the display. 

 

Would the potential bad temp sensor going bad be related to my previous issue of the temp reading MUCH cooler than what it was in the salon?

Could be a bad sensor but more likely it's connections….Be sure to treat both the control cable & temp sensor.

 

Try the simple things first  Wink
