I currently have 16000 btu unit in the salon and will be changing my current 7000 btu in the aft stateroom to a 10000 btu unit.  The current pump is a 500gph with the corresponding pump relay for that pump.  In making this change I have been advised that I need to move up to a 1000gph pump.  If that be the case do I need to also change the pump relay box or will the one currently install be OK? If I need to change the relay box, what is that p/n.  We are in the cheasapeke Bay. Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike~

Your 500 GPH pump is good for 24,000 BTU (2 tons)…If it is not that far away or the pump has to pump over 3 ft of head.

You are now going to have 26,000 BTU or just over 2 tons of A/C….You might get by with that pump in the Chessie because your water temps don't get very warm…But no it wouldn't be suitable down here where the seawater gets into the 90's in some basins.

Yes you can use the same pump relay…

Steve~
